I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to here, but as far as Sweden goes medical school is 5,5 years, after which you do an internship for 18-21 months before getting your formal MD. This internship is not in any way connected to medical school as such. So yes, in total it takes about 7 years to become a (certified) doctor.
